29 May 10, Thur - 30 May 10, Fri
my relatives arrived at our house on thur afternoon. they are my ah ma's elder brother and his daughter, son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren. hmm, my ah ma's brother should be called 舅公?the others i duno liao, so complicated, just called them uncle, aunties and cousins. ha
we interacted a bit, and i thought they could speak Chinese, but i was wrong, they can only speak Thai and my 舅公's daughter-in-law who can speak English very well as she's a Uni teacher who teaches Eng. then, we brought them to Old Market for dinner.
DAY 1:
Dinner at Old Market, Stroll along Raffles Quay

my thai aunty (the one who's a Eng teacher) interacting with my sg 4th aunty.
what a feast! my dad treated the dinner which cost near $200.

my 4th uncle suggested this seafood stall... the food here is really awesome! and i ate loads of sotong...

my pretty cousin with her mum.
aww... havent met for years, yet still so endearing... my heart melted...

was complaining to my dad for being so lack of 情趣. dont think he ever brought us for a stroll along anywhere. strolling along the riverside is so lovely.

the thai family. my cousins are called prem and plume. how cute are their names! though they reminded me of pim and ploy... hee...
dad and 4th uncle with 舅公
aint the Merlion feeling lonely?
DAY 2:
Sentosa (Universal Studios, Songs of the Sea)
the lady in the middle, is 舅公's daughter. the other guy is his son.
kudos to my fourth uncle, he is the best host among my uncles. he fetched them to and fro the airport and their hotel, took off to bring them around, just to assure our distant relatives doesn't feel distant. of course, he spent generously on them, the Universal Studios tickets alone cost him around $400... Songs of the Sea is a visual feast. watched this before in China. with the use of projecting images and fire works, awesome!the next day, my thai relatives, after shopping in town, left for thailand. this is definitely a very meaningful gathering for me. but it's quite sad that not all of my sg relatives were involved, let alone knowing the existence of their relatives... well, at least i witnessed a strong affection of a brother to her sister, and vice versa. and this is what i call love without borders.
