I guess most of you might not feel comfortable about what I wanna do - e no presents and ohana charity fund. Probably it's the selfish part of me to do this, what i envisioned is not what you guys might like.

I found out a reason why I'm doing this. It's a way to push myself to do charity work... and to get funds on this day would be better than on other days as the money for the presents could be used for a better cause.

I think I'm always full of weird ideas so do bear with me... this weird idea can make me happy on this day and i sincerely hope u guys can be happy about what i wanna do too... ;)

Still, sorry if i've made u guys uncomfortable.... 我是无心的～ really the no heart seh :P

同时喜欢两个人的感觉有点奇怪。更奇怪的是，我不清楚是真的喜欢还是一时的迷恋。不过，这些会重要吗，喜欢一个人不就是想和他在一起，之后就锁定他，不看其他人？

以前的我很保守，也还挺专一的，至少不会同时那么喜欢两个人。现在的我思想比较开放，觉得有不错的对象就会考虑。这样看来其实没什么不对。

女孩子很容易心动，不过不是每个人能够打动她的心，彼此之间要有一定的互相吸引才能配合。我印象中的对象是好哥们，但这两个让我心动的人不只是好哥们，彼此也有种莫名的互相吸引。

一直都想坐后面吹风的我听了还蛮开心，因为我不介意。最后还是坐在后面。

缘，妙不可言。

Im so glad that ive got this opportunity to attend 2 awesome camps, one in Jakatar and the other in Singapore. These are the first 2 times at camps that i can eat so freely.

圆缘。

I guess it's an affinity that i'm able to attend the lessons and make nice friends. It's all God's lovely plan.

I've learnt a lot from the speakers of these 2 camps, they come from different backgrounds, from a 20 yr old taiwanese who studies in Jakatar to a 40 yr old monk with an engineering degree. The wholesome wisdom they acquire is simply too amazing....... and being able to integrate into the mundane world is not easy.

And what's similar of most camps is the call time of 5, 6am! Over there, Ive trained myself to 赖床 not more than 15 mins... Not too bad, hope i can apply it anywhere..... :/

p.s yc: not what u think lar~ i wish! haa...

we happened to know about en filming in this very big and beautiful house (e biggest ive seen so far) was when we had to shoot a film for our new tech module. georgie, the one in pink contacted her cousin, in blue to ask for permission to shoot in her house as our story requires a house of rich man. i was clueless until georgie told me about our shooting location will be the same as Unriddle2's. i screamed with excitement... heee... they filmed for 4 days there but we could only make it on the last day, better than nothing...

on that day, i was peeping at en when they filmed just outside the house at the chill swimming pool area and was waiting for en to see me... was wondering aloud if she still rems me. then during her break, i walked near her and pretended to be commenting on the crew's lighting set up with my friends (we did learn useful stuff from mdc). she then walked past me and when we exchanged glances, she smiled so sweetly at me and said hi! i only managed to say hello.... haaaa..

after the filming, at 11ish pm, we requested (actually me only but all joined in) to take photo. initially en sat beside me but she asked the others along so i got separated from her :( i commented its the same shirt again (seen her in this tee many times after shoots or events). she then said 'it's such a coicidence to see u here'!!!!!! (means she recognises me!) i then asked her how's 正义武官 (looking forward to this show! debuts 5th dec) and she just replied 'very tiring...' (as usual, her short short replies)

sad face :(

of coz im not shuang to take group pic so i requested for en to take an individual one with me. and although it already seems that she recognises me, i still shamelessly asked her if she happens to recognise me and she said yes :P

and as usual, she leaves in a hurry... always the first to rush off for anything... she then said sorry and explained there's something on early in the morning for her... so i see her drive her toyota celica (which i always see at e carpark of her block when im on my way to tutee's house) off, and waving bye to xiang yun who is still in the house with us...

i always try to act as calm and less crazy in front of en.. but i just cant keep my hype and anticipation when i see her... haaa... and stupid me forget to bring my dslr, cant get better quality pics... :/

they said something like, 'doubt everything, until that which cannot be doubted is left.'
so even when that person didnt mean it, u will still doubt her first before clarifying. and when u jump into it, that's it...
things start to turn scary when u gossip behind her back and look total normal in front... i got the goosebump when i first heard abt her grudge for that friend she hangs out so often with.
she told me how much she accumulated within her and let it out when a particular incident happened. that's very unhealthy...
i'm scared... i become afraid of making mistakes... i feel uncomfortable sometimes... the people whom i think are nice can be scary. then i reflect on myself, i can be scary at times too, in terms of what we are thinking inside ourselves.
再好的人也有坏的一面？我不希望是真的。
i want to battle this demon inside me... coz i want to be true to myself...

... at least it proves that im a girl... heh... my heart doesnt throb but it smiles on the things he says or does...

it all happened when meng and he pyschoed me to dp this 16mm module shoot when i once told em i aspire to be a dp. each at one side, they trapped me in betw and started to psycho me to take up e role. i unwillingly agreed, telling them im not there yet to have a big crew under me...

1. he msged me that he and meng will be coming to school on our free day to help me out on the preparation of the shoot. got to know more abt the light meter and e lights.. they threw me into this but didnt abandon me..

2. when meng said i was slow, he defended by saying im not. hee... (and im really not lo, just that this friend v. demanding)

3. e proj was v. last min as e previous director backed out and another senior took over. when my supervisor scolded me coz i didnt reserve equipments early, he patted on my shoulder and said '不要骂她啦，她要哭了’. (he exaggerated... ha.. and after that i was smiling... hee)

4. when we were abt to wrap, he randomly sang some chi love song and looked into my eyes. i felt awkward and looked away, saying he's crazy... (暗爽？a bit lar... haaa)

5. after cleaning and packing up, we were discussing abt where to eat. they started saying seafood and all and i purposely gave a sad face (act cute)... then some noticed and said zhiwei cannot eat. then he went towards me and comforted me ‘那边有很多好吃的... (then surprised me)... 你坐我的车，我带你！’ (there were 3 other drivers... when we got to the cars, i opened his front seat door, then e other gals fought for the front seats and the others filled behind... dont want it to be obvious, i sat in meng's car instead, anyway plenty of chances lar~ ha)

6. 10 of us were eating when he suddenly told me, 'zhi wei check ur phone'. then my frenz were asking was it supposed to be a private thing... i gave a weird look and asked what was it and he said it's sth useful. i checked and told him i didnt receive it. he said it was a mms on nd filter chart thing and complained waste his 50cents. ha... (when i got home i received e sms that says go to singtel website to open e mms but nth came out. i then asked him to whatsapp me)

meng kept teasing that im a les and im still not ready yet to prove to him im not by telling him i like his buddy... ha... let nature takes its course ;)

i remember getting hand shakes from friends when we are having exams, wishing each other good luck. this time, hand shakes from film buds...

im gonna mention names for the first time... ha

i dp-ed (director of photog) for my friend, siya's directing shoot ytd. im glad im given this chance by siya to see how much i can do. in e morning, we collected equipment from the store and load them to our asst director, georgina's car (much appreciation to her as she tried to get the car for the shoot). the other groups are also around preparing for their individual shoots. after we have packed the stuff, i sat beside georgie in her car and closed the door. and as we were about to drive off, one of e bros, meng, suddenly opened the car door and extended his hand to me. i was taken aback by his sudden action and received his hand shake, touched and grateful. shyan was beside him and meng gestured to him to shake my hand.. shyan, said no and told him to close the door. i was upset for a while until i realised he was acting. he closed and opened the door again and shook my hand.

i was v. nervous for the first directing shoot, even though it's a directing module and im not the director and the highlight is the performance. the simple hand shake somehow gave me a little confidence and definitely made my day to know that i have these supportive friends around me.

I guess I'm often seen as a brother by these fellow classmates who can talk about very sensitive and explicit issues to me without thinking im actually a lady and i usually just laugh it off.
One always hit me at the arms, knock hard onto me, like what guys usually do.
The other is very open when he talks to me, can even direct vulgarities at me, yet is the most brotherly one, who always find opportunities for me.
Last one, whom ive set my eyes on treats me more like lady and likes to call out to me just to tell or perform silly things to entertain me.
In return, i always slap them hard at their arms... do it like a dude??

it's only a wk that's he's absent from school for a film workshop, in fact only a few days, ive started to think about him...

when im wondering if he will be in school this morning for a lesson when his workshop is in the afternoon, i saw him in his car leaving with another friend. i purposely walked towards his direction but act as if i didnt see him. what's next, he surprised me by winding his car window down just to shout out 'zhiwei!'. i waved and felt so gd :P

in documentary class, i grouped with 2 seniors. this guy senior randomly asked if i like any guys in my batch. the other senior cut in to say, shyan lo. i looked at her, shocked. then she saw my expression and told me it's a wild guess! i was speechless, and that's how these 2 seniors got to know abt my secret that non of my close film frenz know. :/

it was a cold cold night. after a tiring class on wed, at 9.30pm, i took a train to changi airport. it was 2 weeks after her b'day and i had sent her a b'day msg reminiscing those days in primary school and how lovely were those memories. the feeling was weird, i felt so strongly at that point of time i started to miss her.

at the airport, we were at a cafe while her parents were at the other side of e cafe chatting by themselves. she never fails to educate me in a short conversation of half an hr. 12.30am, before entering the gates, she hugged us. i was so touched when she hugged her parents - her mum whispered in her ears and smiled fondly at her; her dad hugged her tightly and kissed her at her cheek. the sight was so heart warming that i almost cried.

she's starting her second year in University of Edinburgh and there are 4 more years, including this yr till she finishes her studies and 2 years more of apprenticeship. which makes it 6 more years...

Dear Jane, 9 more months to june and we shall meet again~ ;)

I have problems with selecting actors... prob im too compromising and too naive... i guess it's a fact that some ppl just aint a performer, and it will prob take yrs to train them to be one... while i was having much headache on selecting my cast, the thought of having en in my film got stronger. how great would it be if en agrees to act for me and my job as a director would be so easy...

i was touched by my friends today. i felt loved when 2 friends cried for me over an issue. a long story during lesson which i shall not elaborate.

the aftermath:
one of my friends was discussing about it with other friends around and she said im like a '小绵羊' (we called each other lost sheep coz we are always quite blur) and said i might get bullied. then i saw her tears in her eyes. i chua tio and i asked her if she's gonna cry but she denied.

Another friend who was more antsy complained about the senior who caused this unhappiness (though i dont think he was at fault at all and he got his point). she said she had tried her best to argue with him and kept complaining about him all the way until we were in the bus. she suddenly broke down and cried, saying that she felt sad for me. she has all along been so strong and confident and suddenly became so weak and vulnerable.

i was so touched by them and the last time a friend (jiayin) cried for me was in sec 3, when i wasnt selected into the goh contingent. it was definitely an awkward yet lovely moment. but of coz this shouldnt be an expectation.

i had cried for friends and family before and when i did, i felt assured of my love, that i still care and not be desensitise to what my loved ones have experienced, for their experiences are my experiences.

my sis has been wanting to buy a new dslr after fungus grew on her outdated canon. she did research and wanted to buy a nikon D7000. but im sooo relieved to have convinced her to buy a canon :P for its video quality (25fps), much better than e nikons (24fps). being one of the shareholders, i forked 25%.

tada! a 60D canon, recommended by filmmaker Philip Bloom too. too bad she rushes to buy the cam, if not i can do more research on which lens better to invest in :(

no dream 5DmII, a 60D is good enough for me liao... heee... start shooooooooting! bang bang

It happened at the press conference when Zhang Yao Dong mentioned there was a rape scene with ah en, and some insinuations here and there. And this is how ah en reacted...

On “Rape and Lies”, by Rui En.
My stance against doing rape and kissing scenes has not wavered. Not even when I was told to my face that I would never have a career due to having such conditions.
I will never agree to doing rape scene. Period.
Which is why I was surprised but felt it was not entirely unexpected that Zhang Yao Dong told reporters that he did a rape scene with me.
The scene he was referring to is a fight scene with him trying to force drugs down the blind character’s throat. While unconscious, he stroked my hair and face. That is the extent of anything remotely resembling a rape scene.
I strongly believe that abusing women should never be considered trivial, much less be made use of to create news or scandals of any sort.
Though I understand how some artistes require the need to create headlines to stay relevant, there is no necessity to twist facts around in order to provide the press with inaccurate juicy headlines.
Though I will not judge anyone and simply chose to do things differently. I draw the line when individuals sensationalize insinuations to draw attention to themselves at the expense of someone else’s integrity.

I watched Good Morning Sg and the host as expected, asked zhang yao dong abt the misunderstanding with ah en. he admitted he was confused by how he should described the scene and said it was a rape scene. and he said at the press conference, when being asked by the reporters if he managed to touch en's lips, he said watch and u will know, he shall not disclose further (i guess the way he put it made e reporters think there's something more to it).

Ive read I weekly and the interviewer asked elvin on how close he is with ah en. he said few years ago when they werent as close, prob on their 1st or 2nd show, when he asked en for her no. she gave a weird stare and said '为什么问?'. and the interviewer asked so until now(6 years already), have you got her no.? he said '还是没有，哈哈哈'.

Hmm, there are people who are more sensitive about his or her integrity and might be easily offended. Call them highly sensitive people, they are just trying to protect themselves, their integrity. Kind of weird person... ha

u are not a loner in a marathon

initially was quite sian when i got to run alone but its true that its difficult to find friends who have the same pace as you when u are running competitively.

felt even lonelier when i missed the 15km wave and being among the 10km wave.. i had lagged 15mins behind my wave (though it wouldnt affect my timing with the timing chip attached on our bib).

chiong until i saw ppl of my wave, and happier when i saw the 9km mark, im halfway through! i kept chanting to myself 'laggi sikit' (a little bit more). duno why i said in malay. it's not to say a little more to the end point but to push myself to increase my pace a little more when i slowed down.

2 encounters with fellow runners, a guy ran beside me and said 'good' with a thumbs up sign and took over. further up around 12km, i ran aside an old indian man, i smiled at him and he was very friendly and said hello, how are you. i told him that he is good. he said this is his first marathon and it's 15km. such strong mental and physical power! thereafter i ran ahead... *reminds me when climbing mount rinjani when we exchange sincere words of encouragement with climbers from all over the world, i love that vibe!

and there were volunteers who were really nice. there was this little boy, prob lower sec, poured 100 plus and distributed to the runners, asking 'would you like a cup of 100 plus?'. i really appreciated his service, smiled and said 'thank you very much'. and there were some other volunteers who cheered us on, their encouragement can be really important. to me, a reminder 'you are near halfway there already, jiayou!' can make me more motivated.

towards the end, at the last 1km, i was really excited and dashed to the finishing point. that feeling was great~

i was not alone through the race... ;)

more things to do after coming back from Rinjani...

3 sources of income:

1. work study in school (2/3 times a wk, day)

2. data entry in mediacorp library (2 times a wk, day)

3. tuition (4 times a wk, night)

1. work study in school is better than data entry... at least i get to move around, carrying stuff here and there... the best part is dont have to wake up so early and timing is flexible.

2. working in mediacorp library is also flexible lar, can choose any 2 or 3 days to go work. 2 days a wk is killing me already... but at least... can watch exclusive vids that are extinct!

had watched extreme gourmet, a 2004/5 reality show.... cant believe that en is so so so bold to bite onto... supposed-to-be-cute-yet-disgusting stuff... :( another show is glam!, interviewed en and joanne peh also in 2005 i think.

and i prob can have a preview of en's new show (heard my colleague mentioning the tape of this show over the phone), guess the tapes will be catalogued for viewing soon! :P

3. took up a tuition assignment at clementi... 4 days a wk! prob will request to cut it down to 3 days if not my weekdays nights - burnt.

day 1, on the plane, so many mountains. is that the one we will be climbing?

first night, our trip guide bahar explained to us the 3 days climb and hike.

yummy coconut rolls served after dinner (yati told me its called 'dadar gulung')

relax at happy cafe bar before embarking on the long and tedious trek the next 3 days.

day 3, second day of climbing, summit push! woke up at 2am to start at 3am! but it is worth it, to catch the sunrise! ;)

should have bought hiking sticks.... it makes the climb less difficult. the gravel terrain is disgusting! take a step and slide a step down...

day 4, third day of trekking, the waterfall trek... before recovering from the summit push, we went on for a 10 hrs trek (up and down, sandy and rocky terrains) and due to 3 casualties, our 10 hrs trek seems forever... had to postponed part of the trek to tmr...

over here, i would really love to credit the local porters who have done so much for us. cooking, washing, serving, pitching tent, transporting stores... i was really overwhelmed by their service as usually we are the ones doing all these during camps.

last but not the least, our guide, Bahar who has brought us around from our homestay to mount rinjani, did all the liaising and stuff.

a fellow trekker mentioned that the porters seem to love what they are doing. i do feel so until yati pointed out to me that i have always wanted to experience kampung life when these lowly paid people yearn to be in the city.

time to say goodbye to our dearest porters and guide... i really miss them. continue on day 5, moving off from the outskirts to our homestay~~~

yati identified that this is bean plantation. dont u tink its so cool to nap in the hut amidst the greens!

on our way back, we stopped at the place where they called the monkey forest.

fellow trekker pointed out that this one here looks like the king of the monkeys! haaaa... the monkey god!

day 6, packed our day pack from homestay and took a ferry to the gili islands! snorkelling!

entered a provision shop and requested to enter their house which is behind their shop. it seems like a secret garden in there! the man is making photo frames to be sold in their shop.

prof really loves to sing! he was still singing even when we arrived back at our homestay at near 2am.

day 8, lunch at Cafe Lombi, managed by a swiss who also manages the homestay we are staying. his love story was extraordinary! the swiss was once a bag-packer who travels around and at one time came to lombok and met his current wife. it was love at first sight and he decided to stay in this small town and earn a living by investing in homestays and this Cafe Lombi.

跟安琪和歪歪一样，我也情不自禁了。这几个礼拜，可能是因为感觉缺乏爱，缺乏体谅而落泪。

donated blood at a clinic last tue and then i thought about the 3 months interval before the next blood donation. does having to wait 3 months means that our red blood cells count need 3 months to go back to the normal level? i went to research and im right......

'Since it takes 120 days (4 months!!!) to fully replenish the red blood cell volume, the minimum time for build up of a new red cell supply has been set at 90 days (3 months!!!)'

'Red blood cells are replaced by bone marrow into the circulatory system at a slower rate, on average 36 days in healthy adult males. In one study, the range was 20 to 59 days for recovery.'

im so sad....... i realise the interval between my blood donation and marathon is 12 days only... ive only got 12 days to replenish my red blood cells.....

now my red blood cells carry lesser oxygen, means i pant more easily and faster :(

is it because of expectation that u feel upset if the love u want is not what u get. some people show their love openly, some others subtly, some others oddly.

is there a need to interrogate the person u love? even if he's/she's wrong, u are also doing wrong by interrogating. what's worse, making up something absurd. now ive felt what is it like to be interrogated and humiliated by people who love me and whom i love for something which is untrue. the feeling is very awful.

i think i saw the guy whom huang wen yong acted as in the Star Awards parody skit. haaaa... the cameraman with the big belly and wearing that 3/4 uncle bermudas.

we were halfway through work and my colleague told us there will be filming later in our mediacorp library for a farewell video for lucus chow. so i joined in the fun and coz of my height, they put me in front... lucky only need to say one line.

the small crew comprises of a director, cameraman, camera assistant and a sound recordist. i then happen to notice of the big belly cameraman uncle. haaa... its so like the cameraman acted by huang wen yong. got excited and then i look at the sound recordist, a young guy, and i started to wonder if he is the one acted by yang zhi long, but nothing jarring abt him to make the conclusion. haa

tapes that i have to catalogue...

work at the mediacorp library is kinda boring... hope i can be transferred back to wardrobe which i guess will be more fun. the library has lots of music and sound tracks for the editors to do their post production and archive of dramas, varieties and news. and after work today, while waiting for my dad, i searched Rui En in the catalogue and there are some old vids that ive never watched before and my colleague told me that i can stay back after work to view the shows. heh... not that bad afterall :P

there is a scene which made my eyes wet... and the ironic thing is that the scene did not involve ah en, instead, the baddie of the show, terrence cao. it made me truly understand the phrase ‘再坏的人也会有好的一面’。we all have conscience, and when it's pricked, our actions and everything can change drastically.

he felt sorry when he realised the great hurt he had caused to the woman who he should be responsible for. thanks to the director, terrence's acting managed to touch me. haa... and instead of making the baddies in the show look totally bad and condemned till the end of the show, they are given a chance to prove that they still can change their spots.

It has been a long long time since i jogged with dad... i dragged him along with me and gave excuse that it's time to exercise and explore the new jurong lake and that the scenery is so beautiful and i really mean it! brought my cam and tripod along. although mum kept calling dad and i to return home for dinner, dad willingly spent time with me posing and giving suggestions for frame composition. and these are what we get ;)

i managed to be early for tuition and was happy about it until i looked out of the window of the bus, it was raining heavily. i prayed to God to allow the rain to stop, but it didnt. i smsed the parent to tell her i have been waiting for 15 mins for the rain to stop and will be late. she told me to get on to a bus that will bring me nearer to her house and she will fetch me from the bus stop.

she came to pick me up without a tinge of grudge but with a smile. when we reached her house she gave me paper towel to wipe myself and then surprised me with her actions. she said my pants were wet and took a towel and wiped them for me. then she made me a cup of hot milo. i felt so loved by this caring mother and from what i remember, only yati would treat me like this. my mum loves me in a violent way. haa...

after tuition, she still treat me with italy chocolates! what did i do to deserve this love? i should learn to appreciate what im given and i guess, that's the purpose of the rain.

We chose claypot curry fish, claypot beancurd, mini steamboat and minced meat egg.
No deep fried, non oily, all very healthy and yummy!! And i guess that's what my family prefer as we all are used to eating healthy home cooked food.

I guess they are still quite unsure when i say 'the fish is very nice' (im not conscious that they arent conscious), yati couldnt react to it, and as i said for the second time, my dad got choked and i tot he wanted to laugh at us.

Then i picked a piece of pork liver for yati and told her to say sorry to allah. my dad laughed... heh

And as usual, my mum kept complaining here and there... hmm... but at least my dad defended me when my mum started.

Had a wonderful photo shoot experience with Cheris on Sunday afternoon at China Town. The location which was at one of the alleys was impromptu, we didnt do any site recce. However all turned out well, good sunny day, no rain, nothing~ But... police visited our set... for more details, enquire YC, our personal assistant for that day... haaa...

I really love the pictures taken of the pretty clothings, as well as the interesting decor and textures along the alley that complement.

A friend's newborn baby passed away. the baby girl suffered from liver failure and struggled for like 3 mths of pain before her departure.

Her father's last words to her...

你一切都还清了。 Words that ive never heard anyone say before. i feel it, it's probably the mercy of God to let her leave at this stage. There wouldnt be much emotional attachment that would make the heart more vulnerable.

Woohoo~~~ After Art History Presentation, the other scary project, Cinematography module advert project is done!

Was researching on lighting techniques the previous night until very late and slept at friend's hall. Was very stressed about the project as the self chosen role i got was the director of photography, a role which i would like to do but still have lil knowledge on. it's one of the key roles other than the director role and the art director role.

my director was telling me to not to be overpowered by shyan who is doing a smaller role and shyan was telling me to not to be controlled by the director and to stay firm in my decisions. some kind bros were giving the same advice too. this was really a test to my confidence when giving commands and to be decisive and firm in how and what i choose to frame. and i realise how important it is to be fully prepared and to have adequate knowledge on lets say the lights.

so so so much to learn, and no, im not giving up coz this passion will be burning incessantly!

Burning or Burnt?

When i think that i have the passion to do something, do i really persist? or do the passion dies down, worse, burnt?

Passion, a word so dreamily beautiful yet so misleading...

We always say we regret doing something or regret making a choice cause we realise it is not what we exactly want.

Sometimes, probably it's not about the burnt passion but more of am I doing enough to revive the passion? I would want to keep the passion burning, not seeing it burnt and choose to give up.

Previously, was talking about this anime, 'Whisper of the Heart' and how it managed to find its way into my heart. This girl who has the passion to be a writer and she writes and writes and after hearing the comment of an old man, she realises she cant succeed with her standard. The old man told her. 'Having the passion to do something is not enough, you can't imagine how much work you have to do to reach there.'

So whenever I feel that my passion is nearly burnt, I tell myself it's because I haven't put in the painful tremendous effort that I cannot imagine how big it is and I haven't learn to cultivate the interest for something I see as my passion.

Ironic as it seems, but I guess like photography, once I know the rule, I know how to and can break it. This is a healthy attachment I would say ;)

was so amused by what yati told me... i was supposed to wake up at 8.30am for 10am lesson this morning. i forgot to inform yati... i set alarm clock at 8.30 but failed to wake up. yati heard the alarm and called me.

yati: girl, wake up already.

me: *sub conscious* orh

yati: girl, got school anot?

me: no

yati: dreaming anot?

me: no

yati: your alarm rang, wake up.

sub conscious, i sat up on the bed.

yati: (walking out of room) ok, go brush teeth.

me: thank you. (for not disturbing my sleep? i wondered why i said thank you...?)

then i slumped down on the bed again.

like half an hr later my mum came back from her morning exercise, told yati i got to wake up for school, yati then rush to call me wake up at 9.15.

yati: girl, got school. 9.15 already, wake up.

me: *conscious* oh~~~

lolx... i always sleep talk and this is not the first time. on one night i told yati to wake me up the nxt day. the nxt morning when she nudged me to wake up, i was reluctant and she asked me if ive got school and i replied no. then when i woke up late, i asked yati why didnt she wake me up. that was the first time yati knows i sleep talk. then for other incidents when i said no school or anything, she will ask me if im dreaming. sometimes i am really conscious and said the right thing, and sometimes like this morning, i was really dreaming. @@

There are incidents which evoke some feelings in us and these feelings are usually not discovered in our mundane lives. These few days, i experienced a lot of these feelings that makes my heart warm...

1. In the B'day video i made for my sis, i requested my family members including yati to say something they wish to say to my sis. Everyone has different way of expressing their love for one another. My dad though seemingly the least expressing person at home gave his heartfelt speech, a father yearning for his daughter to come home soon.

2. Also, was surprised when my dad told me that he signed up for facebook. His reason is quite obvious to me. I kept updating him about sis posting some status and pics of her life in new zealand on facebook which he later got to know what it is. So he decided to signed up for facebook, something which he almost have no idea what it is.

3. My Ah ma dreamt about her youngest son coming to visit her. (my uncle hasnt come to see her for 2 yrs already, including this new yr). in her dream, she wanted to cook something for my uncle but realise there isnt much stuff to cook. Although my Ah ma has many children and grandchildren, the absence of just one son has made her feel that she's still lonely. I always thought my Ah ma is $$ minded, but i gradually realise that it's unfair to say that. yes, she does love money, but her children are as important. though she can be v. unreasonable and gossips, her genuine love and care for us is not overrated.

4. Usually when i edit my own videos, i tend to not have much emotions in it. in fact, feel v. sianz working on it. But for this B'day vid for my sis, it somehow touches me, which is quite unusual when im editing my own vid. Together with the music, it made me miss my sis even more that i almost cried. Though not like angie and yc who really cried... Hope my sis also felt the same thing and come back earlier... heh

It is most probably due to our mundane heart that i fail to notice love. i have always taken it for granted.

Aftermath of the War... Scene 2... Action!

today was the final scene of 'The Line', the war film. producing this film is v. intense due to the bad weather and this ulu place where we got to trekked a distance into this dilapidated small room which is near the railway tracks at bouna vista. we set up the lights and made slight smoke again, this time for the dusty effect in the room.

duno what's the role of this lady in the show but what i know is she is the survivor of the film, holding on the most crucial thing...

this is the film's director who also has a role as a commando whom i assume is a baddie in his film... our art director told us that he is v. passionate about doing combat films and has been doing such films previously, and finally build up to this current one... thumbs up...

i once asked if he is good at lights that's why he is always seen doing the lights and they replied he is good at everything about film, and lights is what he is particularly interested in.

and, it's a wrap! but sadly, not exactly coz we got to transport those bulky and heavy stuff, which are mainly the lights, stands to support the lights, sand bags etc along the muddy paths to the production van parked at a distance away from the film site. @@ shooting today was very short but the setting and clearing up was really tedious.. yc and angie had witnessed the tragic state i was in and laughed at me when they see me wash my dirty legs...

but overall, a very very awesome experience with the seniors~ has been learning v. useful stuff along the way... and hope i can be as zai as my seniors in yrs to come!!! thanks to lovely ohanies who have been supporting me, be it at the screening or acting for my film... i will not let u all down ;)

helped out for 2 seniors' FYP films, and i can say this war film is as expected, fun!!! i was shocked when i heard someone is doing a war film as i wouldnt think that ADM-ers will do sth like this. who knows, maybe i shall do sth bombastic for FYP too. oO it's basically a guy's film where there are 30 plus cast and crew who are guys and the pathetic 5, 6 gals... i was in charged of art direction under a handsome senior. we created explosions, smoke etc at the site. talking abt smoke, the guys really love to smoke and i chua tio when someone actually offered me a bud. @@

have been admiring this yr 3 senior... looks average, another one with long hair and he is damn zai, reputable in adm film. he always has this weird smile when he talked to me, even when it's abt serious work, which makes him charming... actually started admiring him when i know abt his talents and reputation in film. he did many outside projects and even did mv for 陈美心. gradually, attracted to his aura... ha... i wore his personal gloves that he offered to me and i joked to my friend, i prob could have the 'touch of ben'. people give him names such as this coz he's v. gd at post production editing, one touch to do wonders. i realise my eye candies are people who are zai, capable, charming...

anyway, apart from all these idolising, ive learnt quite some stuff abt production, the seniors are really v. professional and knows clearly what they are doing. make up is part of the art directing and now i know the formula for fake blood and how to do make up like this... what a great chance to learn wonderful stuff!

I watched a Japan anime 'Whisper of the Heart' by Yoshifumi Kondo for my film project. It covers a very realistic context, a bit ambiguous, probably because it deals with something very intangible.

It is about this girl who knows of a guy who repairs violins and is very good in playing it as well. The girl gradually admires him for his talents especially one day when he got a offer from a prestigious school of music. After he left to pursue his studies overseas, the girl felt very empty. Initially I was thinking what is it that made her feel this way, is it because of love? I felt something more, she feels very distant from him, physically and spiritually.

Seeing the achievements of the guy, she aspires to follow his footsteps. Aspiring to be a writer, she writes all day long, neglecting school and tests. She brought her draft to the guy's grandfather to review, and he tells her try again next time. She breaks down as she feels very demoralised, very lost. Calmly, the old man replied, 'To do something well, not only must you have interest in it, you must be prepared to put in lots of effort and not fear obstacles'. Though it's a very simple line, at that point of time, when you ponder deeper into the words, you can actually feel very empty. I suppose that's what the girl is feeling.

It sets me thinking about what I aspire to achieve and how far am I from it... Will I persist or will I fall behind?

glee-full weeks

if one day i were to like dance, music, performance and all, it will be because of Glee.. ha.. i so love Glee rendition of many popular songs.. i very like their idea of performing outdoors within the school campus to pull people in to join New Directions, the name of their club.

and that long flight of stairs often seen in ang moh schools remind me of what my friends were once excited about. in NTU, there's this flight of stairs, much shorter than those seen in ang moh schools and not many students will hang around there. if they do, prob because they happen to see friends there and stop to talk. 2 of my 1st yr friends were rattling about how walking down the stairs is so campus life. they started to imagine carrying books and laughing while walking down the stairs... i was amused by their conversation. one of them mentioned that she doesnt like to walk in those dark staircase areas where there is no human interaction coz its not campus life... lolx...

and how cool is it to be performing at that flight of stairs! not that i have the desire to do so but looking at how the Glee people dance around and having fun makes me go wow, so cool. imagine one of ur school clubs decides to perform in populated areas in the school, that will be so beyond campus life. haa... and better those impromptu kind, not like there's a stage with a host speaking.

its always a good qtn to ask yourself when u witness unpleasant stuff... when u see someone fall, when u see people being discriminated due to their race, capabilities, what should you do?

our angie is a good role model wor... there was one day when she saw an old man vomiting in the bus and there arent anyone around who did anything to help, some people even shunned. she stood up and approached the bus driver to ask for assistance. though neither angie nor the driver could do anything about it, at least a small act of kindness, an initiative was made.

if i were there? i would most probably be the passive bystander too. i watch the 'what should you do' series and learned about the term called 'bystander effect'. the more the witnesses, the less probability that someone will stand up to help coz ppl assume the victim will be helped. how sad is that? and no doubt im guilty about it.

was so touched by the heroes and heroines i see in the videos. there are even scenarios where a life can be threatened. this video on hate crime shows the footage of 3 teenage american actors attacking a guy of a different race, using no weapons. many people just walked past. and when everything seemed bleak, a car passed by and stopped. a woman came out, without any man accompanying her, she alone approached the 3 teenagers and told them to stop. what exactly overcame her? her selflessness came from her instinct, without asking herself, she knows what she should do when she sees something like that. not only is she the victim's heroine, she's my heroine too.

the inspiring videos teach us to spread your love not only to our loved ones but beyond them, to even strangers. i will start learning to.

p.s thanks girls for appreciating my food! though it probably doesnt taste really good, at least i know i put effort in it and will continue to!

im in love~~~ not with someone but with everyone whom i love~ hee

yc randomly showed me many chinese character wallpapers on her handphone and asked me which one i like. there are 孝，忠，诚，礼，义，信 etc etc... and what i chose was 爱. my explanation was i feel that everyone needs to know to love, even if to our parents, if u love them u will be filial to them, if u love your friends, u will be true to them.

actually thought of thanking gl... she's always expressing her love to her friends, even to those whom she regreted sms-ing due to some reasons. but i think it's very applaudable, it takes courage to do that and she did it. even though her friend didnt reply, at least gl made the effort to msg her to send her regards. it was this little action of sms-ing a friend that makes me realise that there is a friend out there whom i have yet to show that i still care for her, someone whom i once had petty conflicts, cold war with.

right after the chat with gl, i re-added that friend who had deleted me due to my pettiness on facebook and i sent her a msg: 'its time u shud be back on my fb! haa.. actually missed the times when u used to nag me :P' was quite concerned that she probably wouldnt accept my friend request, but she accepted afterall~ thank you! :P

i love to chit chat with yati, always get to hear interesting things...

this afternoon, i randomly told her about my dream, i said i dreamt about being an item with the guy i like in school. hee

then yati told me her story about how she dreamt about her husband (whom at that time she hasnt seen him before). then a mth after her dream, she saw the same guy she dreamt at her workplace and the guy started to talk to her... and he turns out to be a very very good husband...

(omg, she just told me so much shocking stuff, and i tell u its really shocking... and its real life DEATH experience! she once died for 6 hrs!)

somethings random: realise my maid know quite a gd no. of vocab eg. primitive, materialistic, amnesia, premature, alternative @@

i know she's someone special and its our fate that brought us together to help each other.
sometimes dont underestimate the people u hang out with and can click very well, these ppl might have very special r/s with u in the past life.

i directed on tue, and managed to find my old man at queenstown after walking around the hdb for 2 hrs... and the young actor was replaced by jason! ha..
had so much fun in the process. everyone gets their turn to be director, assistant director, camerman, sound recordist.
kind of disappointed for my shoot. im not as prepared as my other group members prob coz im more concerned about finding my actors which is really impt at that time. my shoots were mediocre, no interesting angles etc... lack depth and kind of boring. like what jason said, it's really a emo and dark film. ive realised to make this kind of film a success requires really good techniques and good actors. i should avoid this genre next time round.

got a shock when my team mate said he bought this bear for himself! this is the first time i hear a guy buying himself soft toy! the domo most prob also...
played around with his toys... ha
a dead dried lizard found after a dead dried bird. they are most prob trapped in the rooms. it is no wonder as the place we are shooting in is a super old nie campus. super dusty and dirty, very suitable for a horror setting...

im not living up to my posts, i realise i always break my own rule, and yes yc is right, we have no right to criticise about anyone even if we think we are right (not that i criticise lar)... sigh... i will try extra hard not to deviate to the dark side. ha

yati told me something that makes me happy! she told me my mum bought plenty of yellow and black beans to cook in soup and told yati how i needed more of these. i had really hated eating these beans, had never eaten them in soup until today, i ate so much of it... just because it's my mum's 一片苦心，一份爱心，一切关心

my mum though didnt show her support, showed her tremendous concern for me. i appreciate it a lot...

another thing to share. my mum bought a 15cm ginseng that costs $400!!! and she said she doesnt bear to take it, it's specially bought for my sis and i coz from the sinseh, we somehow are kinda weak (it's weird to hear that though i don't think i am, it's just that i sleep late). i was really touched... her body conditions (frail legs) are much worse than my sis and i but she puts us before herself. how 伟大 can a mother be?

i once again quarreled with my parents yesterday when i asked if they would like to try vegetarian food. dad's rebuke hurt me. i know it's difficult for them to understand the choice i made. yes, i do hope they can join my cause, but from the situation now, it will be naive to think they will. my only hope is that they show their support by doing very simple things like asking my maid to cook a portion of non meat dish separately.

surprisingly my sis who has been at odds with me is the one who touched me when she prepared nice food for me during our family bbq. she did asparagus with cheese in chappati (poh pia skin).

yati is also someone whom i want to thank a lot. she's the most understanding family member. she makes me side dishes when dinner comprises of mainly meat or when she knows i dislike a particular dish. she is like my second mother ;)

of coz, yc who always fights to treat us vegetarian food and gl who makes nice ohana crunch and other specialities in the making. fel and angie who totally support the cause. max who happily and willingly hosted vegetarian steamboat for ohanies when he doesn't benefit from it. gl and yy who accompanied us to the outdoors acres event without complaining about the sweltering afternoon. zr and zhuang who didn't mind vegetarian steamboat~

yc told me jingyi thanked her friends for accepting her for who she is, that includes being a vegan. i didnt understand the need to say thank you. but having gone through the struggle with my parents, i understood. i was naive to think that your loved ones, family and friends, will always support u in what u do. but the fact is no, and i got to be thankful to the people who supports my cause. and im sure one day, i will thank my parents for supporting that particular one!

The response of the Singapore Red Cross

The Singapore Red Cross made a donation of USD100,000 (or SGD $135,074) in contribution to the immediate relief efforts in Pakistan's flood-ravaged northwest on 2 August 2010.

As part of our contributions to the on-going relief efforts towards Pakistan, the Singapore Red Cross has purchased 260 tons of family food packs worth over S$260,000. Each family food pack which comprise of wheat flour, rice, lentil, cooking oil / ghee, sugar, tea and salt is sufficient to feed a family of seven for a month. The family food pack will be distributed through the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies to the survivors of the flood situation.

Additionally, 8,000 pieces of high quality tarpaulin will also be purchased through the IFRC to be used as temporary shelters for the many survivors whose homes have been washed away by the torrents.

attended my first Film Writing class... i really enjoyed learning the techniques, and whatnot of script writing. there are terms that ive never heard before like log lines, beat sheet which means sth like synopsis and point format that are the lingo in script... we had to come up with our short log line of a film that we would want to see and present it to the class. our prof mentioned the material can come from your interest, people around you, world etc... so mine was inspired from the world. and our prof seemed to understand my agenda. *content undisclosed

made a few really nice malay friends and had lunch with them. it was rare for me to be able to talk almost anything with them that make u realise ur relationship with people can be so magical. one of the topics was to talk about the quirky side of us, in other words 怪癖. ha... one said she cant stand her food being messy (she had dropped just a few pieces of lettuce and her burger was still v. neat but she said it was v. messy). the other said she cant stand not having shitted for a day, she has to shit everyday if not she will feel something missing (i rebutted saying she should feel something's there instead and want it to be gone)... ha! my turn, i said i feel uneasy when people with dirty hands (prob after eating fries) touch me. they were like 'oh ok. point taken'. and after lunch, one called out 'let's go wash hands'... haaa..

Film Art History class from the past 2 wks were not quite bad.
Film Production class will be the all time fav. as we get to work with professional equipments!
Asian Art History deals withthe analysis of intriguing art pieces (somehow makes me miss Western Art History which we took in the previous sems). anyway, at the start, most ADM-ers wouldn't like these 2 modules because of the research part, and their abbreviation tells it all. WAH!!! AAH!!!

have been doing shopping for my breakfast...
after cooking packet noodles for some time, i feel that i should change the type of mee and include other ingredients other than egg. sauced mushrooms (enokitake, shimeji etc), canned beans, capsicum, asparagus sounds good (credits to sis for contributing capsicum and asparagus). besides, i can have ruffles chips with mashed avocado (learned at aussie fruit farm) for snack and soy milk for daily consumption!

all healthy food! minus the party size m&m($1 cheaper! ive been waiting so long for m&m promotion, no buy regret!) and ruffles(2 for $6.20!). a variety of food is good anyway, m&m for intake of carbohydrate and chips for sodium! ha... thanks to FairPrice for the offers :P

i gave up the main comm publicity post. sighhh... though i really hope i could take up the role that will allow me to acquire much valuable experience and skills. but it's just that i'm not prepared and not confident of myself (that's what i told the president). besides this reason, it's also coz i was told by a senior doing film that year 2 is a terrible yr, and even weekends will be burned. furthermore, we need capital for filming which means ive got to cont' tuition so as to be able to pay for my misc fees... i can more or less foresee what's gonna befall on me soooon...

ya, i do know opportunities don't come by easy, but i know my limitations, i know what i'm capable and not capable of. so as for now, would rather self upgrade than to not perform up to expectations.

what's the similarity between defenseless animals and the jews? they are beings who are have no say and go by the will of the superior group.

it is difficult not to have the idea of becoming vegetarian after watching the documentary, 'earthlings' that yc introduced to me... it lasts for one and half hrs, but it only take me the first 20 minutes to cry so hard that i cant remember when was the last time i did that.

had a thought about being vegetarian few yrs back after watching some videos on animal testing, but i didnt do it. im probably not disciplined enough to even think about it. but i guess baby steps works. anyway, to those who are trying hard to advocate vegetarian diet, jiayou! i will look up to u ;)

p.s the documentary is highly influential, for a good cause.

yati was given a chance to learn english. my mother registered her for lessons every tuesday. she's really serious about learning -- she checks up the dictionary if not inquires us on her doubts.

her english malay dictionary.

the lessons are held in mainly chinese to cater to the majority. yati had to translate the english sentences to malay.

i always see her preparing for her lessons. Due to the limited chances she's given before then, she treasured every opportunity to learn. We have the luxury to choose what we want to learn yet we are always the ones who don't cherish what we are given. I still have a lot to learn from yati.

some of us were called to go for a short meeting during one of the night of odac orientation. saw some of the sub comm people gathering in the room and i asked them what is this meeting about. they say i will know later... then 2 other friends from my sub comm came in, alex and yew ting. i asked alex and he told me we are nominated by our spo and filtered by the main comm ppl as nominees for the transition main comm. was totally caught by surprise...

today is the day i have to give an answer to odac president, kang hong whether im interested... but im still very uncertain if i really am able to take up the position, if i have proper time management to juggle between cca and academics. this is a rare opportunity for me and i always wanted to prove that im capable of something, so i guess i should treasure what im given. constantly upgrading oneself is what i wish i could do.
